Craig Wright

Craig Wright is a partner in the firm's Business Law Department and the national chair of the firm's Technology Business Group. Craig practises corporate and securities law with an emphasis on corporate finance, as well as mergers and acquisitions. His practice concentrates almost exclusively on technology companies.

During 1995, Craig was seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission as special counsel where he advised the OSC on corporate finance and other matters. He assisted the OSC Task Force on Small Business Financing in recommending changes to the regulatory framework governing the raising of equity capital by small and medium size business enterprises.

Craig advises Canadian and foreign corporations, investors and underwriters on private and public company matters and on all aspects of Canadian securities regulation. Since 1996, Craig has carried on his practice from the firm's Ottawa office where his focus is on emerging technology companies.

Transactions in which Craig has been involved include acting as principal outside counsel to JDS Fitel on its merger with Uniphase in 1999, Newbridge Networks on its sale to Alcatel in 2000 and Wescam on its sale to L-3 Communications in 2002. Craig advised the underwriters on the IPO of Workbrain in 2003.

Craig is a frequent speaker at conferences relating to venture capital, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and other issues relevant to technology companies. He is recognized by Lexpert for his expertise in corporate finance and securities, corporate commercial law and technology.
